Fixing a Connection With No Signal

On your wireless card or USB adapter, you should have a link light. If this light is not lit, you know you have lost your signal.

If you have lost your signal, follow the steps outlined below to regain your connection. Check to see if you can log on after each step.

Restarting Your Computer

Shut your computer down. Restart your computer and try to log in.

Check Your Wireless Configuration

Click on Start, then Settings, then click on Network and Dial-up Connections.
Double-click on the icon for your Local area connection. Click on Properties.
Click on the Configure button. Then click on the Advanced tab on the screen that appears.

Click on ESSID. This must be set to airpath (all lower-case letters). Click on Operating Mode. This must be set to Infrastructure.

Also, make sure that Encryption Level is set to None.

Click OK.

Click OK.

Click Close.

Re-Installing Device Drivers

Make sure you have your floppy disk or CD that came with your wireless device. You will need to use it to reinstall your device drivers. It is also a good idea to check the manufacturer's website for new drivers before installing. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to properly install these drivers. You may need to shut down your computer after installing.
